| “I am still hearing great things from our clients about their experience with their M∙A∙C Good Spirits session. One client said “I will never forget this experience as long as I live. I have never felt this good about myself.” Thank you for giving me the opportunity to offer this experience to our clients and making our evening enjoyable and one we won’t forget. M∙A∙C Cosmetics is really doing a wonderful thing by providing this service. The night made a lasting impact in the lives of our clients living with HIV/AIDS.” ~ From HIV Program Coordinator |

In 2002, the M·A·C AIDS Fund – the “heart and soul” of M·A·C Cosmetics, the world’s leading professional makeup company – created Good Spirits, a free public service initiative for men, women and transgender living with HIV/AIDS. Good Spirits was inspired by the American Cancer Society’s “Look Good…Feel Better” campaign, which teaches patients beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self-image while undergoing cancer treatment. |
Good Spirits is a natural outgrowth of M·A·C’s commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS that began in 1994 with the creation of the M·A·C AIDS Fund, which has raised over $115 million. Around the world M∙A∙C, its artists, and its retail partners continue to support and participate in the fundraising efforts of many community-based, AIDS-related organizations. |
| The M·A·C AIDS Fund’s Good Spirits “makeovers” are personally implemented by highly-trained M·A·C makeup artists, some of the most renowned artists in the world. M·A·C artists volunteer their time to teach men and women with HIV/AIDS simple makeup techniques and help them enhance their appearance and minimize problems resulting from the illness or medication regimens. |
Working to camouflage signs of the disease with makeup, as well as the physical, sensitive and expert touch of a M·A·C artist, helps Good Spirits recipients to not only look healthier, but FEEL better and actually gain self-confidence to maintain ties to friends and family. The program aims to encourage those with HIV/AIDS to be active in promoting their own health and well-being. |
